Researchers at the University of Toronto, in partnership with Geosyntec Consultants, have developed the world’s first microbial solution for eradicating chlorinated solvents, considered among the most severe and common groundwater contaminants in the world. The bio-remediation technique has been applied to more than 200 U.S. and European sites.

Traditional clean-up costs are exorbitant, and treatment processes are very slow. The microbial culture treatment costs less than half as much as pump-and-treat remedies, works more quickly and requires less energy.
